From its inception, the Maralto Container Terminal has been committed to following best practices for socio-environmental management and complying with regulatory bodies’ requirements. In addition, the terminal has actively worked to build transparent communication with the community.

From environmental research to social development initiatives, this marine terminal has been guided by technical studies and assessments to map possible impacts on the community and propose solutions to mitigate them. With IBAMA, Maralto drafted and approved a comprehensive action plan covering aspects such as water and air quality, noise, fauna, and flora. These measures were divided into monitoring, control, and mitigation and added to the programs developed with other institutions, such as FUNAI, IPHAN, ICMBio, and IAT, to carry out actions focused on respect and preservation of the natural habitat and neighboring communities.

These socio-environmental initiatives will be launched as soon as the mobilization and construction works begin.
